Protocol of the Sanctuary or Passion from the Heart
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 30:18
Although most of the many people who came from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun had not purified themselves, yet they ate the Passover, contrary to what was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, “May the LORD, who is good, pardon everyone 19 who sets his heart on seeking God—the LORD, the God of his fathers—even if he is not clean according to the rules of the sanctuary.” 20 And the LORD heard Hezekiah and healed the people.
Observation / Application
We have missed it in the church world if we foolishly believe that God is more interested in the rules of the sanctuary than He is the relationship to those who seek Him. I love this text and want to point out a few phrases in the text that I believe are PROFOUND and teach us what God values as we come to Him:
Key phrases in 2 Chronicles 30:18-20
1) had not purified themselves
2) contrary to what was written
3) Hezekiah prayed, “”May the LORD, who is good, pardon everyone
4) who sets his heart on seeking God
5) even if he is not clean according to the rules of the sanctuary
6) LORD heard Hezekiah and healed the people
Please allow me to translate into a modern prayer,
1) Just as I am, I come, 2) I realize that my life is far from Your Holy standards for me, 3) yet I know You are a God of Grace, 4) and as I seek Your face, 5) I know I don’t deserve Your amazing love because I have broken Your rules, 6) yet, I come and know that You are healing me.
